Warm weather is upon us! Monitor your horse's sweating during work. Now is the time to supplement with One AC if your horse is not sweating normally. You should probably start the supplement now if your horse did not sweat properly last year.
Monitor your horses water consumption. Sometimes horses won't drink enough during the cool nights/warm days. We love tubs or buckets in stalls so that you can see just how much your horse is drinking.

Eastern & Western Encephalomyelitis; Tetanus; Flu; Rhinopneumonitis (5 Way) + WNV (West Nile Virus).
Winter deworming calls for an ivermectin based product. Please dispose of your used tubes carefully! We have heard of dogs getting into the leftover paste and suffering from blindness and sometimes dying.
Rabies is now one of the "core" vaccines recommended by the American Association of Equine Practioners (AAEP). While cases of rabies in horses are rare, the disease is 100% fatal and cases do seem to be on the rise.

The state of Arizona is being hit with the biggest outbreak of rabies that it has seen in a while, according to state veterinarian Elisabeth Lawaczeck. So far this year there have been 62 animals confirmed with rabies, according to Lawaczeck."

When discussing lameness with an equine professional, the following grading scale is the standard:
AAEP Grading System
0 Lameness not perceptible under any circumstances.
1 Lameness is difficult to observe; not consistently apparent regardless of circumstances (i.e., weight carrying, circling, inclines, hard surface, etc.).
2 Lameness is difficult to observe at a walk or in trotting a straight line; consistently apparent under certain circumstances (i.e., weight-carrying, circlng, inclines, hard surface, etc.).
3 Lameness is consistently observable at a trot under all circumstances.
4 Obvious lameness: marked nodding, hitching or shortened stride.
5 Minimal weight-bearing in motion and/or at rest; inability to move.
